CASCADE Limited selects Sun Blade 6000 to bolster its backend

HONG KONG, November 15, 2007 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA) today announced one of Asia Pacific's largest technical services organisations, CASCADE Limited has selected the Sun Blade™ 6000 Modular System loaded with Sun Blade T6300 server modules to strengthen its backend in order to expand its service offerings.

CASCADE Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PCCW, is the operator of one of the world's most advanced telecom networks, providing 99.999 per cent service reliability and world class services. The company designs, builds and operates network infrastructures to manage the flow of voice, data and multimedia information together with technical and consulting services.

"Our major client PCCW Limited needs to continually keep up-to-date with the latest technology offerings and we are always looking at ways to expand the services we offer. Part of this is ensuring our backend is as efficient and cost effective as possible," said Mr Frankie Wong, Senior Vice President, Network Planning, CASCADE Limited.

"We needed a solution provider that understood the competitive nature of our business together with the ability to implement the solution quickly with a minimum amount of disruption to the business.

"We selected the Sun Blade 6000 Modular System with T6300 server modules powered by the UltraSPARC® T1 processor with CoolThreads™ technology to replace our existing rackmount servers. We chose the solution due to its ability to save space, minimise power usage and grow with the company."

The Sun Blade 6000 series provides customers with the most versatility of any blade platform. Using the industry's highest performing microprocessors from Sun, Intel and AMD, it provides support for Solaris™, Windows and Linux operating systems.

The Sun Blade 6000 redefines the datacenter lifecycle with up to double the memory and I/O capacity of competing blade and rackmount servers.

"With this latest offering Sun now has the broadest support of volume architecture and operating systems in the industry. This together with the largest range of energy efficient solutions are all factors that play a role in leading companies such as CASCADE Limited selecting our technology," said Paul Li, Director, Marketing, Sun Microsystems Greater China.
