Check Your Configuration - follow these 6 simple steps
1. Check that your system will run the Solaris OS.

If your system is not currently listed on the Solaris HCL but you have installed Solaris 10, please consider submitting details of your system  so we may share this information with the Solaris user community.

2. Find out if you have enough memory. Solaris requires at least 256 MB of memory for a normal installation. However, for PXE booting, 512 MB is the recommended amount.

3. Make sure you have enough disk space. A minimum of 2 GB of available space on your hard drive is recommended.

4. Make sure you have the latest and greatest software.
  • If you prefer to have Solaris 10 installation DVDs and CDs as well as hard copies of accompanying documentation, you may purchase a Solaris 10 media kit.
  • You may also choose to download the software images and burn your own copy of the Solaris 10 media, free of charge. This typically requires access to a high-speed Internet connection.

5. Ensure the applications you wish to run are supported.
  • Sun's continued commitment to binary compatibility between operating system releases means that your applications  are guaranteed to run unmodified on Solaris 10.

6. Get support. Find out more about the wide range of self-help offerings and Sun support services available for Solaris 10.
