DESCRIPTION
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This individual will be responsible for the management of supplier(s)
as well as additional and specific responsibilities in support of Sun's goals.
This includes primary responsibility for managing cost, quality and availability for supplier products throughout the product life cycle coupled with managing complex long term relationships with suppliers. Key responsibility will be:
* Lead supplier and product area strategy development to support product
requirements in terms of cost, quality, availability and time to market.
* Work closely with Engineering, Advanced Component Engineering,
Commodity Strategy teams, Commodity Management and supply execution oranizations to align supply base with cost, quality, availability objectives.
* Lead cross-functional teams in managing implementation of supplier
qualification and approval activities, supplier achievement of quality
goals, managing product/commodity strategy activities, and driving cost
reduction and other supplier initiatives
* Lead activities that achieve competitive pricing
* Manage product availability escalations without factory interruptions.
* Represent supply management in product cross-functional teams.
* Provide business unit representation on Commodity team(s) in assigned
product area in defining and driving commodity objectives.
* Ensure compliance and consistent practices of supply management
policies and procedures.
* Drive the contract negotiation process.
The position requires strong analytical and problem solving skills, negotiation and influencing skills, good business acumen, excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to multitask and handle pressure. This person must be a self starter, able to deal with complex product transitions, be able to learn the intricacies of the job with a minimum of support, and be able to represent his/her supply base and supplier at senior level forums as necessary. This role requires proactively working with both commodity suppliers and external manufacturers including working on process improvements and executing strategies with Sun's extended Supply Chain as we move to a more outsourced manufacturing model to ensure continuity of supply.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Supplier management concepts and experience.
* Strong cost analysis and contract negotiating skills.
* Supplier performance management.
* Project management/process improvement.
* Excellent written/verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin.
* Strong analytical skills, and strong problem solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritizing multiple assignments in a
fast- paced complex environment. Will be accountable for decisions and
deliverables.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Financial analysis skills (ROI)
* Quality measurement/improvement systems
* Supply chain and materials management knowledge
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
8+
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION:
BS, MS/MBA or equivalent perferred
